Grand Rod Run Fall 2011

This past weekend we headed up for Pigeon Forge, TN for the Fall Rod Run...which is a gigantic hot rod gathering. Ground pounding, beautiful machines literally take over the town for a good 3 days.
At the 2010 Spring Rod Run Ronny and his Dad went in together and bought this 1952 Chevrolet Pickup.
Immediately after purchasing it, big plans were made for 'The Chevrolet'...a front bumper, built motor, ground thumping cam, big shiny chrome rims, 4 link rear end, air bag suspension and much more.
By last October he had built the motor and got the front bumper on it and we used it in Caroline's wedding.

As Spring Rod Run 2011 approached the plan was to have the new rims, and suspension done so we could take it up. That didn't happen. Parts weren't here in time and Ronny was working out of town. So, Fall Rod Run was the goal.
For some reason Ronny likes to do things in the last minute; says 'He works better under pressure'. [He was putting the motor together hours before Caroline's wedding rehearsal]

2 weeks ago he ordered all the parts he needed, they were supposed to be here very quickly. Well, they weren't. 5 days before we were supposed to leave all the parts arrived and the truck looked like this...

5 long days of hard work later, we were set to go. Originally we had planned to drive it up there. Due to leaky valve covers, we hauled it up on a trailer.
Ronny got some new valve covers at the swap meet and we were good to go.

Caroline and Ryan went with us in Ryans big yellow truck.

Friday night he got ride height tickets and had to park it for the weekend...unless he wanted it to leave by roll back.

The plan for Saturday morning was to get up early, me and Ronny would cruise in The Chevrolet, Carol and Ryan in the Ford, and head to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Then check out the cars on that end of town. Not even a mile or so down the road a terrible, I mean terrible knocking started under the hood. Sounded like someone was beating the block with a hammer. People moved out of our way looking at us like we had the devil himself in our truck as we pulled into a parking lot. We went and got the trailer and loaded her up. Ronny and Ryan checked it out while me and Carol shopped. They decided that he had broken a rocker arm stud. So, now The Chevrolet was a trailer queen. No more cruising for her.

Other than the craziness that happened we had a great time and saw some amazing cars.
Ronny and Ryan have both set goals to have Ryan's blue truck and The Chevrolet ready to cruise until we are tired of cruising [with no crazy problems] at the Spring Rod Run.

I'll end with a pic of a car that had a price tag of $179,000. [yes, you read that right]

A dirt bike for Dad? Finally!!

Yes, it is true. Ronny [finally] got his bike.
Now we are set.
Wd's Poppy cleared out Ronny's old 4wheeler trails from when he was little. So, now he has a nice little trail/track in the woods.

Wd's bike also got a face lift of new graphics and new front tire.
